Canada Post workers in Estevan and throughout the rest of the country are back on the picket lines as the lockout has stretched into a second day.

Despite reports the federal government is pressuring Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers to come to a resolution and get mail service rolling again, more than 40,000 employees were locked out of work as the sides remain far apart on a number of key issues including safety and allocation of sick days.

The Estevan CUPW members have set up another picket line at the post office on the corner of Fifth Street and 13th Avenue. According to employees on the line, support from the public has been overwhelming. They have also received support from other local unions who brought food and refreshments for the locked out picketers Wednesday.

It was expected that the Conservative government would introduce legislation by today to get the mail rolling again but reports indicate a vote will not take place until next week.
