Post office employees in Estevan have again done their part to restock the shelves of the local food bank.

Canada Post held its annual food drive Saturday and the event was another smashing success as they collected 5,300 pounds of food for needy families and individuals in Estevan and area.

"That is great," said Major Len Millar of the Salvation Army. "The generosity of the community just amazes me. I'm astounded by it and very thrilled."

In an earlier article, Millar noted that the food bank's shelves were looking a little bare thanks in part to their support of those people who were displaced by the spring flooding. Millar said Saturday's drive will go a long way towards filling up those shelves and helping them get through the tough winter months.

"We will have most of the items we require for food hampers until January or February at least. And everything that we were short of, we now have items of.

"The Canada Post employees and their families and their volunteers all came along. I am very thrilled and excited about that. I am impressed. They really pulled their weight and they really did extremely well."

Millar added that Investors Group also contributed to stocking the shelves at the food bank. The company recently held a comedy night for its clients where they asked them to bring items for the food bank and collected 490 pounds of food at the event.
