Country music fans from Estevan and the surrounding area spent Friday evening enjoying a live show from one of the greatest country performers in Canadian history.
Paul Brandt left his mark on Spectra Place, touching down in the Energy City for a concert as part of his NOW tour.
The tour is in support of the Calgary-based singer's latest album, Give It Away, although Brandt also regaled the Estevan crowd with a selection of favourites from his 16-year career, including "Convoy," "My Heart Has a History," "Alberta Bound" and "I Do."
Brandt also gave a nod to his church background, singing a pair of gospel songs, Jesus Loves Me and I'll Fly Away.
The 13-time Canadian Country Music Award winner and eight-time Juno Award recipient played for roughly 90 minutes before a crowd of more than 1,000 spectators.
Brandt wrapped up his set with a two-song encore.
Give It Away was released on Sept. 13, 2011. It is Brandt's first album since he released Risk in September of 2007.
Country group High Valley was the opening act for the concert. The band is comprised of brothers Brad, Bryan and Curtis Rempel, who hail from La Crete, Alta. High Valley's most recent self-titled album came out on Sept. 14, 2010.
The band was recognized with five awards at the Gospel Music Association of Canada Convenant Awards in 2011, including artist of the year, group of the year and country/bluegrass album of the year. High Valley's first album, Broken Borders, won twice at the 2007 Covenant Awards.
