Several of the Kinettes were in attendance volunteering during Telemiracle 46.
ASSINIBOIA - Several of the Assiniboia Kinettes played an integral part during Telemiracle 46, which was held in Regina on March 5 and 6. It was a record-breaking year for Telemiracle 46, the total was almost a million more than the previous record of 2017.
Several of the Kinettes were in attendance volunteering during Telemiracle 46. A local non-kin volunteer, Fiona Graham, owner/operator of Fiona Graham Photography, took the final image of the show that was circulated as part of the media release to news outlets across the province.
Lisa Martin, the club’s Vice President, served as Social Media Coordinator for the event, along with her team of 12 handled all the social media accounts, photography and online graphics in the week leading up to and during the show. Cecette Brons Rhodes and Talsa Warken were part of Martin’s social media team. Raelynn Nicholson, Tara Pedersen, Lorraine Duxbury, Jesse Shkuratoff and Lisa O’Reilly also attended the event, working in other positions such as security, food services, messenger and Teddy handler.
This TeleMiracle was also special since some “Kin Kids” were able to attend the event with their moms. Kaelyn Pedersen, Lara Shkuratoff and Mina Wirges each attended their first TeleMiracle, volunteering in the messenger, food services and social media areas of the show.
Raelynn Nicholson is currently serving as a Zone Rep on the Kinsmen TeleMiracle Foundation Board. This board responsible for processing the applications for those requesting TeleMiracle funding. Nicholson works directly with families and individuals who are in need of financial assistance from TeleMiracle and presents their application details to the Foundation Board during their monthly meetings.
The Kin Canada National President, Jennifer Burry, and National Vice-President, Cameron Kemp were also in attendance at TeleMiracle 46. Telemiracle provided National Board of Directors member Lorraine Duxbury with the opportunity to finally meet both Burry and Kemp, with whom she had only been able to meet via online video meetings. The Assiniboia Kinettes were thrilled to share a special meal with them before the show.
The Kinettes donated a total of $20.061.33 to Telemiracle 46, from community donations. One of their larger fundraisers, a Spin-a-Thon held at Stride Studio, raised more than $11,000.
The Kinettes collected $214.40 in donations from the residents at Eastside Court. There was $918 collected from the Assiniboia 7th Avnue School, through the Helping Hands fundraiser, a PJ day and a raffle.
The Mossbank School donated $1,235.93 from the Helping Hands fundraiser, and yogurt sales. Assiniboia Elementary doanted $3,781.50 from a Toonie Tuesday (where students could wear hats in the class), an art auction, a candy jar guess, student challenge donations and staff donations.
As their own group, the Assiniboia Kinettes held a Christmas Lane raffle and a TM collection box, to raise $2,158.50.
Local performer Jordan Engstrom also performed during the show. She presented the Assiniboia Kinsmen’s donation which was matched by Nutrien since she was a SaskTalent performer.
