WEYBURN – A PD Day Art camp and an Active camp will be held at Weyburn’s Credit Union Spark Centre, as students will be out of class on Monday, Jan. 31.
Both of the camps will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the art camp to cost $35, and the active camp will cost $30.
The art camp programs will focus on engaging the children aged six to 11 in projects designed to educate and enrich. Each session has a new theme, and a lunch should be included.
The active camp programs focus on teaching physical literacy through active games, recreation and sport in a child-centred environment.
The theme for this camp will be Olympic Day, featuring some of the sports that are found at the Olympic Games.
Other activities at the Spark Centre include the next instalment of Scientists in School Saturdays, with the theme, “Science Meets Art”, on Saturday, Jan. 29.
The class will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., and children will make a puppet, a spinning top and a kaleidoscope as well as designing their own galaxy, using shadows, colour, motion and light to create art from science.
There will also be a mixed media class on Jan. 29 from 1-3 p.m., where students will create a crescent moon out of copper wire and glass beads or crystals.
