麻豆传媒AVeast College announced that it has partnered with the University of Regina to offer first year university programming starting this fall. Dr. Lois Legare, Vice President of Training at 麻豆传媒AVeast College, explained that the college is offering first year classes for the Liberal Arts certificate, the first year of pre-Social Work, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of health studies.
鈥淭he first year classes are suitable for any program,鈥 she stated about the flexible program options. One example of class offerings, Legare said was the English 100 and English 110 in the first and second terms. She noted that most programs require English classes in the first year and this program base can be applied to any program of study. These classes are accredited university classes that can be transferred to any other university in Canada for credit.
With this new programming, the college is keeping up with the changing face of education. The college鈥檚 new programming provides a real cost saving to students. 鈥淭his program allows students to stay at home and helps financially,鈥 Legare added. It allows students newly-entering or re-entering higher learning to remain in their home communities to stay at jobs or to test the university waters before making a commitment to a program.
The classes will be held face-to-face with an instructor at the Weyburn campus, Legare explained. And if registration numbers warrant, there is an option to live stream classes from another college site such as Assiniboia. The University of Regina hires the instructors. Legare says that the college plans in the future to investigate providing other levels of programming.
