ESTEVAN - Refurbishment of the city's water tower is getting underway.
The City of Estevan announced that the work would begin on Tuesday. Those who live and work in the vicinity of the structure should expect extra noise through working hours. They should also keep an eye out for additional notices as work continues.
These improvements are part of the water tower rehabilitation project.
The project will be funded through the federal gas tax program.
Commercial Sand Blasting and Painting of Saskatoon was awarded a $1.4 million tender for the project last year. It had the lowest bid.
As has been documented previously, the tower was built in the 1950s, and has served as Estevan’s primary water storage facility, but it is beginning to show heavy fatigue.
Residents should not notice a change in water pressure.
