Paterson Grain donated $67,866.75 to the Assiniboia Arena Project, a project of the Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association. The proceeds come from grain and hay sold off the company land adjacent to the terminal.
This is the third donation the company has made. This contribution along with the previous two years brings Paterson’s total donation to the new arena project to $187,888.35.
Paterson Grain is a Canadian-owned company founded in 1908. Paterson’s inland export grain terminal in Assiniboia has been in operation since 2009. It is part of the company’s network of elevators in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. Paterson supports numerous community initiatives across Western Canada. The company actively participates in local communities.
Construction of the new arena is set to begin this summer in the lot across from the Prince of Wales Complex. The CIA is in the final stages of selecting a contractor. The association’s building committee and contractor will both have input into the final design. The $8 million project is expected to take 18 months until completion. The project has also been affected by the March provincial budget. Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association is still taking donations and conducting fundraising for the arena project.
