The 麻豆传媒AVeast College and SaskTel have partnered to develop and offer new training designed to meet ongoing employment demands within the telecommunications industry.

Introduction to Telecommunications Standard Wiring is a 64-hour course initially offered as a pilot project in the spring of 2016, and will now be offered to the public at key intervals throughout the year at 麻豆传媒AVeast College鈥檚 Estevan Campus.

鈥淭rade specific skills in the area of telecommunications are in demand,鈥 said Jeff Richards, the college鈥檚 vice-president of strategic development. 鈥淲e recognized an opportunity to partner with SaskTel to develop training that would help to meet that labour market demand.

鈥淲e are also very excited that 麻豆传媒AVeast College is able to offer completion bursaries to each of this year鈥檚 graduates of the program as part of our commitment to our partnership with SaskTel and for the long term success of this program.鈥

The course is an introduction into the basics in telecommunications, including the components and wiring of telephone and data networks in both residential and commercial environments. An emphasis on hands-on practical training with equipment typically used in the industry is a key element to this course.

鈥淲e are pleased to partner with the 麻豆传媒AVeast College on this training program,鈥 said Ron Styles, SaskTel鈥檚 president and CEO. 鈥淭he skills and knowledge that the students acquire during this program will provide them with a solid understanding of how telecommunications services operate today so that they may build on that foundational knowledge as they venture into a career in the telecommunications industry.鈥 聽
