Tina Bird continues to receive excellent support as she fundraises for her upcoming participation in the STARS Rescue on the Prairies.
Bird, who is a safety advisor with AECOM’s Lampman office, held a fundraising barbecue and auction at the Lampman branch of the Royal Canadian Legion on Aug. 31. The event raised a total of $9,247 for the STARS Air Ambulance service.
She also held fundraising pancake breakfasts at the Estevan Exhibition Grounds on Sept. 3 and 4 as part of the Estevan Rodeo.
According to her bio on the Rescue on the Prairies website, Bird has now raised $37,812, which means she has raised about 75 per cent of her goal. She has raised the most of the five participants thus far.
Bird is one of five community leaders from across the province participating in Rescue on the Prairies this year. They will be flown by a STARS helicopter to a remote location somewhere in Saskatchewan on Sept. 15, where they will contact friends and family members for donations. They will also participate in challenges to raise more funds for STARS.
Each Rescue on the Prairies participant must raise $50,000 for STARS before they can return to civilization.
