Promotions, sales and outdoor activities will all be park of the annual Moonlight Madness celebrations on Dec. 8.

The 1200-block of Fourth Street will be shut down 6 to 10 p.m. that night, allowing for a host of activities on the street, and for shoppers to easily cross the road to access their favourite businesses.

Jennifer Pettitt, the chairperson of the Downtown Action Committee, said there will be all kinds of events, including a visit from Santa Claus, sleigh rides for children and street hockey games. Food trucks will also be present.

The Estevan Kinettes Club will be wrapping gifts inside the House of Stationary.

鈥淓ach different business is going to be providing different promotions and different sales going on,鈥 said Pettitt.

Customers can use a shoppers passport to enter a draw for numerous gift cards from downtown businesses.

A fully decorated Christmas tree will be lit early in the evening, and on display throughout the night. It will be raffled off at the end of Moonlight Madness.

鈥淭here鈥檚 going to be something for everyone, and it鈥檚 going to be a nice night of shopping as well,鈥 said Pettitt.

She encourages people to check with the individual businesses to find out what is happening during the evening.

Moonlight Madness was a popular annual event in downtown Estevan for over a decade, but was offered on a smaller scale last year. Pettitt looks forward to seeing a lot of people turning out on Dec. 8 to shop and support the local business community.

鈥淚 hope that people will come down and see what鈥檚 available downtown, and see that we do have a lot to offer,鈥 said Pettitt. 鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be a nice environment down on Fourth Street, and hopefully there is nice weather, so that people can come down and participate and have some fun, while getting some shopping down.鈥澛

She also hopes that Moonlight Madness will encourage other businesses to join the Downtown Action Committee.
