Weyburn's Amanda Jane Duncan will be competing to be "The Next Big Thing" in the Big Dog 92.7 Country Talent Search this June.
Nine emerging country artists have been selected and will perform live in three semi-final shows on June 1, 8 and 15. The Saskatchewan performers will be competing for a chance to take their careers to the next level and win a custom-tailored prize package valued at more than $15,000 - including $5,000 cash plus options including a professional single released to national radio, showcasing for music industry professionals, hands-on career guidance, and an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2011 CCMAs in Hamilton. Each artist will be showcasing their original music live for an audience and will be judged by a panel of music industry professionals. Then, on June 29, the Finals Show will feature the winner from each semi-final week performing for a panel of Canadian music industry professionals. On this evening, one winner will be chosen to receive the grand prize package.Duncan, the wife of Weyburn-Big Muddy MLA Dustin Duncan, will be competing on June 8 at the Pump Roadhouse in Regina. Show time is 8 p.m. and the door charge is $5, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Big Dog Kid's Fund.
