The Weyburn Public Library held their annual general meeting on March 4 to celebrate the past year and to look to the future.

This past year was a bustling one for the community of Weyburn celebrating its centennial and the library was the centre of some of those activities.

"On August 1, the Weyburn Public Library was the site of festivities celebrating Weyburn's 100th anniversary. In the afternoon, 60 former members of the library board, friends of the library and staff attended a come and go tea," said Librarian Kam Teo.

The library also hosted an art show in partnership with Weyburn Comprehensive School teacher Donna Klein.

The library held successful used book sales in May and October. Funds from the book sales assist the library in getting worthwhile materials for customers.

In 2013, the Quota Club of Weyburn also donated $500 towards the purchase of toys for the library's toy section and the Superannuated Teachers of Weyburn donated $1,000 for the Books for Babies program.

Board Chair Dianne Sander said the library thanks the City of Weyburn, Alan Johnson and the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Regional Library Headquarters, the Friends of the Library, and all donors to the library whose contributions have enabled them to enhance collections of toys, CDs, DVDs and graphic novels along with other designated materials and programs.
