The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club had its annual summer social on June 23 with a dinner followed by bridge held at the Wheatland Senior Centre.
There were eight tables and the evening was for the Club Championship. First overall was the pair of Bernie Collins and Jo Wollner; second place went to Jim and Hazel Benison; third place went to Jim Brown and George Gillies; and there was a tie for fourth and fifth between Diane Bell and Ilyne Thiessen and Warren Betker and Barry Mactaggart; plus a tie for sixth and seventh between Marg Marinos and Audrey Warawa and Vivian Truscott and Fred Milleker.
In regular play on June 2 with four and a half tables, top honours went to Warren Betker and Marg Stewart; tied for second place were Gord Bell and Kim Kaz and Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart; and in fourth place were Jim Brown and Jean Knibbs.
Three tables played on June 5 and Jim Brown and George Gillies placed first, while Lucie Nickel and Marg Stewart were second.
June 9 had three and a half tables and Warren Betker and Marg Stewart had a strong first place finish; Jim Brown and George Gillies were second; and Annie Balzar and Marion Brown placed third.
There were also three and a half tables on June 12 and taking first place were Jim Brown and George Gillies; finishing in second were Jim Benison and Bernie Collins; and placing third were Marg Stewart and Fran Franks.
June 16 had three tables and first place went to Marg Marinos and Audrey Warawa while Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel placed second.
Two tables played on June 19 and Erskine Sandiford and George Gillies placed first and Marg Marinos and Marg Stewart were second.
During July and August there will be Duplicate Bridge played only on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Wheatland Senior Centre. There will be no Duplicate Bridge on Thursdays until September. All interested bridge players are welcome to play.
