ASSINIBOIA -- Prairie Wind and Silver Sage – Friends of Grasslands, in Val Marie will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2022. As part of the year-long celebration, the museum is holding a 50/50 lotto fundraiser.
Incorporated by a group of dedicated volunteers back in 1997, Prairie Wind has grown into a provincially recognized EcoMuseum.
Housed in Val Marie’s historic Little Brick Schoolhouse, it also serves as a gift shop, art gallery and visitor centre with native Prairie Gardens.
Funds raised will go towards restoration of the Little Brick Schoolhouse. Built in 1927, the Schoolhouse served students in Val Marie and area until 1985. Today, the Little Brick Schoolhouse is one of the few of its era in Saskatchewan still in use.
As the building approaches its 100th birthday, funds are required to restore brickwork, repair window frames, and refinish the original wood flooring.
The 25th anniversary 50/50 lottery is licensed by the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority. Prairie Wind is selling 50/50 lotto tickets online at prairiewind5050.ca. The winner will receive half of the pot, up to a maximum of $25,000. Lotto tickets can only be purchased in Saskatchewan, either from the lotto website at prairiewind5050.ca or by calling Prairie Wind at 306-298-4910.
Draw date is Friday, October 29, 2021 at 6 pm.
For those located outside Saskatchewan who would still like to support Prairie Wind and Silver Sage, the organization is a registered charity, and tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted online at pwss.org through Canada Helps.
