Yellow Grass (cpd) - Kids' Club Vacation Bible School (VBS) was held Aug. 6 and 7 at the Yellow Grass Communiplex and Aug. 8 at Yellow Grass United Lutheran Partnership (YGULP) Church on Souris Street. A total of 24 children from ages five to 10 years of age attended each day.

Pastor David Hanes, Jennifer Kerr, Albine Baumung and Heather Symenuk shared duties as leaders.

Each afternoon began with action songs led by Kerr, followed by video presentation, discussion and prayers. Crafts were led by Baumung, and various games helped children run off some energy. Snacks were provided by members of the community.

The highlight of the VBS was water balloon games in Allen Park on Aug. 8. VBS helpers were student Jack Nicholson; and adults Ruth Tasker, Joy Erb, Debbie Kerr, Krystal Mercer and Erika Altwasser.

On Aug. 10, Jennifer Kerr presented a reprise of VBS at the morning worship. Several students helped lead the congregation in song.

Sunday, Aug. 31 will be the last day as interim minister for Pastor David Hanes at the YGULP Church in Yellow Grass. On Sept. 7, Rev. Molly Kitchen of Regina will begin serving as minister to the community.

A potluck lunch will be served after the morning services on Aug. 31 to say farewell to Pastor Hanes and to welcome Rev. Kitchen. Everyone is welcome to attend the service and lunch. Bring your favourite dish. Beverages and buns will be provided.

Len Judith Kay Schmidt, daughter of Mark and Jill Schmidt of Yellow Grass received the sacrament of baptism at the YGULP Church in Yellow Grass on Aug. 3, with Reverend Lynda Harrison officiating.

Owen Lonnie Eberle, three month old son of Joanne Schneider and Scott Eberle of Yellow Grass, received the sacrament of baptism at the YGULP Church, with Pastor David Hanes presiding on Aug. 17. Many of Owen's relatives were in attendance. After the service the family hosted a coffee party for the congregation in the church auditorium. Muffins and dainties were served.

Some puzzle pages are available at the Yellow Grass Branch Library.
