TeleMiracle, a Saskatchewan鈥檚 Charity, announced the list of 75 talented Saskatchewan performers who are appearing on TeleMiracle 45, taking place on February 27 and 28, 2021.TeleMiracle 45 will include the 鈥淐ountdown to TeleMiracle鈥 pre-show, the Main Show and the Overnight segment.

Out of many applicants, Assiniboia鈥檚 Jordan Engstrom was chosen to perform on the 20-hour telethon to be broadcasted live on CTV throughout Saskatchewan, beginning on 9 p.m. on Feb. 27 and ending at 5 p.m. on Feb. 28. The Grade 11 student will appear on TeleMiracle 45鈥檚 Main Show, which will also be livestreamed on 聽and broadcasted on YouTube.

鈥淚 have been part of Telemiracle since I was little. Dad volunteers with TeleMiracle. I wasn鈥檛 even one-years-old when I met the national cast as a baby,鈥 the teenager recounted 鈥 smiling beneath her mask.

Engstrom first appeared as a performer on TeleMiracle 44 on March 8, 2020, when she sang Daddy鈥檚 Hands by Holly Dunn at 5:42 a.m. on the Regina stage. Before appearing in Regina, she fundraised for her TeleMiracle performance.

鈥淭his year, I did a raffle kit at school,鈥 Engstrom reported. Plus, she performed three songs in the Limerick Hotel in February 2020, where the teen raised money for the Kinsmen Foundation.

Engstrom 鈥 who also works part-time in Assiniboia鈥檚 Shoppers Drug Mart 鈥 expected she might be raising money through virtual means this year because of COVID-19, but this hasn鈥檛 stalled her enthusiasm in becoming part of TeleMiracle 45.

鈥淓verything Telemiracle stands for is a good cause 鈥 it helps people in so many ways,鈥 Engstrom said.

Additionally, Engstrom receives an adrenalin rush from singing music before a live audience, so this opportunity is ideal. 鈥淭his year, I will be performing Christine Aguilera鈥檚 song, Beautiful,鈥 she said when talking about the upcoming performance in February.

Although Engstrom originated from a musical family, she has only staged her solo performances during the last three years. 鈥淲ith music, it took me a long time to figure out that I liked it so much.鈥

The soloist with developing talents took vocal lessons from Evie Sawatzky and Josh Carley in Moose Jaw. After listening to selections on her YouTube channel at JJ Engstrom, the listener will hear a trained voice filled with richness and tonal depth.聽 聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽

Engstrom, who specializes in country ballads, is planning to release a series of digital recordings either in Jan. or Feb. 2021. Her ballad 鈥楳y Mind鈥 is a 鈥減sychological song,鈥 based on an inner fantasy.聽聽

A second ballad she鈥檚 releasing concerns the anxieties of a person experiencing a mental illness. Engstrom said this song depicted the downfalls of mental illnesses, when people sense they are trapped into situations and wish to break free.

Although Engstrom has a preference for country ballads, she also listens to indie musicians including Tate McRae and Alessia Cara. At times, Engstrom鈥檚 music and vocals share comparisons to the English indie singer, PJ Harvey, with sweeping and everchanging pitches.聽聽

To support Jordan Engstrom鈥檚 performance on TeleMiracle 45, she will set up a PayPal account in the future, or donors can send an email at [email protected].

The proceeds of this annual telethon organized by the Kinsmen Foundation assists people in having access to specialized mobility and medical equipment. The foundation also provides travel assistance for residents requiring medical treatments beyond their communities.
