Returning for its 24th year, the Homespun Craft Show and Sale is coming back to the Carlyle Sports Arena in mid-September.
Dubbed by organizers as 'The biggest little craft show in Saskatchewan,' Homespun (as it is locally known) brings in craft and artistic talent from a wide area to display their goods at the two-day event.
Coinciding with the show itself is the eighth annual Quilt Show, held at Memorial Hall on Main Street in Carlyle, where local quilters will display some of their finest work, as well as some antique quilts.
Besides the display, the Quilt Show is also a competition for entrants, where the quilts will be measured against each other based on a number of qualifications. The visiting public is asked to take part in the judging process, with ballots available to cast for those quilts that you feel deserve special recognition.
Hosted at Merit Ford on highway 9 north, a Show n' Shine will also be held to compliment the Homespun event.
With more than 100 vehicles planned to be on site, the Show n' Shine has proved to be a popular destination for people of all ages.
Free to all comers, the Show n' Shine will feature some of the best classic and custom vehicles in the region, a sure-to-please event for everyone.
At Homespun, there is a special area set up for food vendors, and many different tasty treats can be had from specialty booths set up on the main floor.
For those looking for a full meal, the Carlyle and District Fire Department will be hosting a pancake breakfast next to the Carlyle Sports Arena.
The breakfast is an annual favourite, with vendors, residents and visitors all coming together for a great hot breakfast.
All proceeds from the breakfast go to support the fire department, an all-volunteer force of dedicated men and women who make it their business to safeguard people and property in a wide area in and around the town of Carlyle.
Another featured meal event at Homespun is the 'Dinner in the Field.'
Another wonderful opportunity to sit down with people from all over, the dinner is usually packed, the attraction of good food and good company drawing equally from the crowds.
Homespun Craft Show and Sale will run Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 19 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Carlyle Sports Arena, located at the junction between Second and Third Streets West, just north of the railway line.
The Quilt Show will run the same days and times as Homespun, and will be at Memorial Hall on Main Street in Carlyle.
The Show n' Shine will be hosted on the Saturday at Merit Ford, located on the east shoulder of highway 9 north of Carlyle, and will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. that day. A shuttle service will be operating between the Show n' Shine and Homespun throughout the hours of operation.
