Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Report for October 30, 2012:
Some members of our local Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club attended Regina's Fall Sectional Duplicate Bridge Tournament on two of the four day tournament. On October 19 Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart placed first in the Stratified B and third overall (Stratified A) in the afternoon, and in the evening they placed first in the Stratified B; second overall. On Sunday October 21 in Stratified Swiss Teams, Barry Mactaggart and Diane Bell with Gord Bell and Marg Stewart placed first in the Stratified B and tied for fifth overall.
In regular club play, with three tables playing on October 1, Millie Nimegeers and Fran Long started the month with a first place victory followed by Barry Mactaggart and Gord Bell in second.
Two and a half tables played on October 3 and Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart took first place with a tie for second between Jean Knibbs and Marion Brown and John Whitell and Roy Wallin.
On October 10 three tables played and Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel placed first followed by a tie for second between Jim Brown and George Gillies and Erskine Sandiford and Andy Dumba.
October 15 had three tables and Diane Bell and Barry Mactaggart had a first place finish while Gord Bell and Marg Stewart placed second.
With three tables playing on October 17 placing first were Diane Bell and Erskine Sandiford and finishing second were Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart.
On October 22, the Canada Olympiad Fund Game was held and all clubs across Canada played the same arranged hands. At the end of the evening, an analysis of what could be bid and made on each board was available. Our club had four tables that played and taking top honours were Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart, placing second were Diane Bell and Marg Stewart and in third were Jim Brown and George Gillies.
Two tables played on October 24 and first place went to Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart and second place finishers were Jim Brown and Andy Dumba.
On October 29 three tables played and Carmen Vilness and Andy Dumba placed first while John Whitell and Roy Wallin were second.
The annual Christmas social will be held at the Wheatland Senior Centre on December 17 at 6:00 p.m. including a turkey dinner followed by bridge. If you are interested in attending, please contact Marion Brown.
