Decorative bricks, stones removed from Collegiate

A workman uses a hammer and chisel to separate a section of the white stone that went along the top of the Weyburn Collegiate building, as demolition of that facility is now in its preliminary stages.

A workman uses a hammer and chisel to separate a section of the white stone that went along the top of the Weyburn Collegiate building, as demolition of that facility is now in its preliminary stages.

While salvage work of tindall stone and decorative bricks occurs on the exterior, work crews are also removing hazardous materials inside, such as asbestos, before the Collegiate building itself is demolished, along with the Cafetorium, as part of the renovations and construction at the Comp School.

The Collegiate part of the school was built in 1913, the year Weyburn became a city.
