Crocus Quilt Guild is working behind the scenes to get ready for Spring Bouquet of Quilts V on May 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and May 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Weyburn Curling Rink.

Vi Mitchell and Lydia Millekar are two local quilters who will have a retrospective of their life work in special displays at the event.

Mitchell has practiced the craft for over 70 years. She began with a CGIT quilt and continues to take part in fund raisers by hand quilting the finished patchwork for the guild. Her quilts are gifts of her time and talents as she chooses designs and colours for the recipient. She is currently working on a very old pattern called 'grandmothers garden' all stitched by hand.

Millekar has reaped the rewards of learning a craft and the fellowship of others as she quilted her way through 16 years of projects. Selecting the right pattern, finding the colours that work, learning new techniques and finding the tool that helps her execute the designs, she has contributed to many fund raisers . Millekar is never too busy to help out sharing her expertise with new members.

Crocus Quilters are proud to share the work of just two of our more than 50 members.
