The Regina Symphony Chamber Players are hitting the road again this spring for a return visit to Weyburn on May 9. The goal is to introduce live orchestral music to audiences that might not regularly be exposed to an orchestra.

The Regina Symphony Chamber Players are hitting the road again this spring for a return visit to Weyburn on May 9. The goal is to introduce live orchestral music to audiences that might not regularly be exposed to an orchestra.

The Regina Symphony Chamber Players (RSCP) is made up of twelve principal full-time musicians from the Regina Symphony. The group performs 40 or more school performances each season, along with various community concerts.

The Weyburn community will experience two performances. The afternoon performance will be geared towards a school audience, with the goal of engaging youth in orchestral music. The group will introduce several great composers as a "playlist" of favourite classical hits. The RSCP will also introduce different instruments and encourage questions and discussions around both composers and instruments.

The evening concert is being held at the Tommy Douglas Centre and will provide an opportunity for the broader audience to experience the performance of classical works.

"Cenovus is pleased to once again bring the Regina Symphony Orchestra to Weyburn. We are proud to be a partner with organizations, like the Regina Symphony Orchestra, to give back to the communities where we live and work," commented Twila Walkeden, community relations advisor for Cenovus Energy.

Tickets for this concert event are on sale now through the RSO Box Office at 306-791-6395, Weyburn Pharmasave, Weyburn Co-op Foods, or online at reginasymphony.com

Founded in 1908, the Regina Symphony Orchestra is proudly celebrating the 102nd season of sharing live orchestra music with residents of southern Saskatchewan. Under the baton of Maestro Victor Sawa for the past 14 of those seasons, the RSO provides a unique and fun experience with a wide variety of concerts covering many styles of music, from the classics to the movies, from Saskatchewan talent to international superstars.
