A whole lot o' fiddlin' goin' on

The Weyburn 13th annual Old Tyme Fiddle Contest was held on April 27 at McKenna Hall. Championship winners were James Steele of Saskatoon taking First place, Paul Dacier of Moose Jaw coming in Second and Patrick Tinant of Bellegarde in Third place.

Madison Zandee of Estevan took the stage at the Old Tyme Fiddle Contest on April 27 at McKenna Hall, taking Fourth in the Novice 12 and under class.


The Weyburn 13th annual Old Tyme Fiddle Contest was held on April 27 at McKenna Hall. Championship winners were James Steele of Saskatoon taking First place, Paul Dacier of Moose Jaw coming in Second and Patrick Tinant of Bellegarde in Third place.


In the Open class, Kyle Fawcett of Weyburn took First, Aimee Poirier of Antler took Second and Kristian Wenaus of Regina took Third.


In the Senior class, Dick Scotton of North Battleford took First, Fred Easton of Kenosee Lake took Second.


In the Junior 18 and under class, First place went to Emily Dubois of Langbank and Second and Third went to Regina fiddlers Sierra Haynes and Shanaya Cossette, respectively. In Fourth was Ashleigh Wolensky and in Fifth was Andrew Sotkowy of Regina.


In the Novice 12 and under class, Allegra Haynes of Regina placed First, Gracie Vogel and Micah Walbaum of Stoughton placed Second and Third, respectively. Fourth place went to Madison Zandee of Estevan and Fifth went to Kieran Stewart of Oxbow.


In the Twin Fiddle in Harmony class, Elisa Fawcett of Weyburn and James Steele of Saskatoon placed First and Micah Walbaum of Stoughton and Shoni King of Corning placed Second. Kieran Stewart of Oxbow and Morgan Robertson of Carlyle placed Third.


In the Novelty class, placing First was James Steele of Saskatoon. In Second were Aaliyah Walbaum and Milay Itogawa of Stoughton, Shaela Gill of Estevan, Janelle Breault and Micah Walbaum of Stoughton, Hannah Johnston of Arcola, Kieran Stewart of Oxbow, Madison Zandee of Estevan and Shoni King of Corning. In Third place was Micah Walbaum of Stoughton.


Youngest contestant was six-year-old Aaliyah Walbaum of Stoughton and the oldest contestant was 89-year-old Fred Easton of Kenosee Lake.
