For the past 27 years Carlyle and surrounding communities have been happy to be able to take part in the annually held Homespun Craft Show and Sale.

The weekend of Sept. 21st and 22nd is one to pencil into the calendars.

Not only will the 27th annual Homespun Craft Show and Sale will take place, but motocross organizers with the Â鶹´«Ã½AVeast Corner Racing Circuit (SCRC) will be hosting races as well.

Homespun, much like the Dickens' Festival in December, showcases what a small town can do when volunteers and organizers work together with the community to create a success.

Homespun will be bringing in over 80 vendors of everything from arts and crafts to various dips and desserts.

Known as, "The Biggest Little Craft Show in Saskatchewan," it will once again deliver with a variety of vendors from across Canada including vendors from Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and British Columbia.

Doors to the Carlyle Sports Arena will be open on Saturday, Sept. 21st between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., while Sunday, Sept. 22nd it will be open between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Admission will be $4 each day, while those 12-years-old and younger will enter for free.

There will be a pancake breakfast to be found on Sept. 21st between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., with a "Supper in the Field" held between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a barbeque beef supper available. The arena kitchen will also be open both Saturday and Sunday.

Included in Homespun is the 11th Annual Homespun Quilt Show, which will be held in Carlyle Memorial Hall both days during the same times as the arena will be open.

Admission to the quilt show will be $3. Found here will be various vendors with a variety of quilted items for sale as well as free demonstrations.

Saturday will also see a Show 'n Shine held at Merit Ford between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Typically a number of diverse vehicles can be found here on show, with their knowledgeable owners excited to share their passions with those interested in viewing the cars.

A shuttle will be running between the Homespun Craft Show at the Carlyle Sports Arena and Merit's parking lot, for ease of access to both for those interested.

Finally Saturday will also see action at the Bowen-Rekken Memorial Moto-X Track.

Riders from across southeast and central Saskatchewan, as well as those from southwestern Manitoba will take part in the races.

Weather permitting the races will begin at 9 a.m., following registration and practice runs beginning at 7 a.m.

Admission to the event will be $5 for the day, while spectators aged 12-years-old and under are free.

The idea came to the Rekken's to hold the event on the same weekend as Homespun because it adds to the atmosphere. People interested in Homespun and the Show 'n Shine are also given the opportunity to watch solid racers of all ages.

The track provides a challenge to racers and is exciting action as the larger bikes kick up dust around the course and fly across the tabletop jump on the north side of the course. Younger riders on less powerful bikes with a love of racing still developing will also be taking part.

The encouraging, laid back atmosphere is somehow able to also take competition to great heights making it an exciting day of racing action, which will include local riders such as Kate Lees of Carlyle.
