Wheatland Seniors Centre to host supper, Christmas bazaar

A Christmas bazaar will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Wheatland, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a variety of vendors to be present.

The Weyburn Wheatland Seniors Centre will hold a month-end supper and a Christmas bazaar in the coming weeks.

WEYBURN - The Weyburn Wheatland Seniors Centre will hold a month-end supper and a Christmas bazaar in the coming weeks.

The month-end supper will be held on Friday, Nov. 24 at 5:30 p.m., with a guest speaker at 5 p.m. It will be roast beef and mashed potatoes. The price for members is $16, and $18 for non-members. The supper is open to everyone to attend.

A Christmas bazaar will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Wheatland, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a variety of vendors to be present. A Beef-on-a-Bun will be available during the bazaar, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., for $8 a person.

The following are the results of the Senior Centre’s activities from Nov. 6-10:

Spades was won by Sheila Greiner in first, Rose Levesque in second and Dave Frayn in third.

In Hi-Lo Whist, Ray and Connie Boucher won first; Gladys Lokken and Jannette Tonn placed second; and Fran Long and Ruth Boren came in third.

The winners of Canasta were, in first, Chris Herlick; in second, Jean Reich; in third, Shirley Cherpin; in fourth, Sheila Wendell; and in fifth, Marge Warnke.

In Kaiser, Alice Schneider and Lavine Stepp won first; Ruth Boren and Marge Schultz came second; and Norma Kapusianyk and Melba Bent were third.

Thursday Crib: first was Basil Holyer and Dave Frayn second was Stan Hubick and Sheila Grainer third was Marie Marcotte and Ruth Boren, and fourth was Della Schultz and Marge Schultz. The winners of ShuffleBoard were, in first, Ron Frayn and Ray Boucher; in second, Connie Boucher and Sophie Gall; and in third, Donn Morton and Pat Schultz.

The Seniors Centre hosted a bridge tournament on Nov. 4. Winners of the tournament were Jeanne Molnar and Dorothy Hewson from Kennedy; second place went to Maggie LaMontagne and Janice Wilson from Wawota, and third place went to Millie Nimegeers and Jerry Ponto of Weyburn.

The results of the Senior Centre’s activities from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 follow:

In Bridge on Friday, first went to Dave Frayn, and second was Shirley Sparks.

The winners of Spades were, in first, Erskine Sandiford; in second, Mildred Sandiford; and in third, Melba Bent.

In Hi-Lo Whist, Connie and Ray Boucher placed first; Basil Holyer and Dave Frayn were second, and Chris Herlick and Francis Long came third.

The winners of Canasta were, in first; Pat Peterson; in second, Joni McNaughton; in third, Sheila Greiner; in fourth, Anne Gutzke, and in fifth, Willa Mae Donald.

In Kaiser, Marge Schultz and Faye Johnson placed first; Marie Marcotte and Eva Morley came second; Ray Boucher and Gladys Lokken were third, tied with Norma Kapusianyk and Melba Bent.

The winners of Thursday Crib were, in first, Shirley Sparks and Rose Levesque; in second, Shirley Hubbs and Marlene Szczecinski; and in third, Marie Marcotte and Ruth Brown.

In Fun Crib, Sheila Greiner won first; Connie Boucher came second, and Garth White was third.

The winners of Military Whist were, in first, Faye Johnson, Marge Schultz, Gerry Thompson and Marie Marcotte; in second, Sheila Greiner, Shirley Sparks, Marlene Szczecinski and Jean Knibbs; and in third, Jean Fahlman, Gladys Lokken, Meta Murray and Mildred Sandiford.
