As cases of COVID continue to climb in every constituency (how鈥檚 that for featuring the letter C in my opening statement), I found it more difficult last week to find a bit of humour for this column.

Add to that chore (note: there鈥檚 another couple of Cs), I鈥檓 trying hard to sort through and discard books and other materials. I really don鈥檛 want to leave that job to our kids once we depart this life.

I found several items I either forgot or in one case, didn鈥檛 even realize I had. The former was a scholarly tome I was able to pass on to dear friends and the second, sitting in front of me now, a book titled The 776 Even Stupider Things Ever Said by Ross and Kathryn Petras.聽

I glanced through it and came up with several sayings and ideas that I trust will bring a grin, if not a smile, to your face. Here goes:

Funny, really stupid or otherwise, these days we need to turn our attention from the challenges and discouragements we face on a daily basis; for most people, I assume, the isolation and health concerns need to be replaced with good news.
