Shirley Corkish attended a 25th wedding anniversary barbecue in honor of Rick and Michelle Corkish. Family and friends gathered at the home of Terry and Susan Lolacher in Regina on August 28th for the celebration.

Wawota was a busy place last weekend. Friday night there was a street dance held by the hotel. Free brisket on a bun and music by Ragged Edge were enjoyed. John Gray, a former Wawota resident was part of the band. The next day there was a slow pitch tournament held at the Ball Park. On Sunday the Ken and Kevin Wilsons held their Ole Tyme Threshing Bee. This is always a crowd pleaser, for us who lived those days and for the younger people can learn from it.

Visiting with Brandon, Julia and Jack Harper was his mother, Shirley Harper from Nova Scotia.

Last Friday evening Edna Benner had family visit. Those attending were Ron and Patsy Giroux from Saskatoon, Glen and Kay Oakes from Winnipeg, Terri Tomlinson and David and Shirley Brimner.

This year is the 125th anniversary of Labour Day being recognized as a statutory holiday in Canada. Thank God every morning when you get up that you have something to do that day which must be done. Whether you like it or not being forced to work and forced to do your best will breed in you temperance, self-control and diligence, strength of will, cheerfulness content and hundred virtues which an idle man will never know!
