ESTEVAN - Last year the City of Estevan and the Estevan Mercury teamed for two festive contests – Twinkle Tour and Light Up Estevan.
Both projects were aimed at encouraging people to decorate their homes and enjoy the Christmassy Estevan. Residents were invited to decorate their homes and submit their pictures, which were posted online. Another part asked for others to take a look at the pictures and vote, and then go enjoy the best-decorated houses in town.
The Light Up Estevan winners were chosen in two categories.
The Community Choice's winner was 929 Fourth Street. And the Judges' Choice prize went to 2242 Newcombe Drive.
The winner of the Light Up Estevan Twinkle Tour Scavenger Hunt was Sonja Kraushaar.
"The Twinkle Tour Scavenger Hunt is a long-time family tradition of mine, and I was so happy to share it with all of our readers again this year. I hope everyone had as much fun doing it as we do," said Estevan Mercury publisher and sales manager Deanna Tarnes.
"Thanks to the City of Estevan for partnering on this promotion."
The Estevan Mercury also held the Letters to Santa contest in December, which was won by Serena Olson.
"Thank you, Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Eye Care, for sponsoring our Letters to Santa contest and thank you to everyone that wrote letters. We were sure to get them to Santa," said Tarnes.
All initiatives did exactly what they were meant for – people made the Energy City look festive and beautiful, and had people driving around enjoying the holiday season.
