As most of my readers already know, these have been several trying weeks for our family. 聽
Two weeks ago, my husband had a sudden and debilitating stroke. Only those who have gone through the pain of losing or nearly losing a loved one fully understand the emotions flooding one鈥檚 heart and mind. Thankfully he is doing better and although he has a very long road to recovery ahead of him, one of the things that has been a huge support for me is the care displayed by our friends and neighbours.聽
Over the past two weeks I have been the recipient of kindnesses beyond what I would have imagined. First, I received a huge bouquet of beautiful flowers from the staff of a local store where we鈥檙e customers. Then while I visited at the hospital, a neighbour came over and mowed our lawn.聽聽聽
Another neighbour across the alley popped over last week to say he was going to town and asked if I needed anything. With a grin I said I鈥檇 never turn down a cup of tea from my favourite outlet. Within the hour he was back with tea and a doughnut. Another next-door neighbour helped me clean up some 鈥渟tuff鈥 to go to the dump, then loaded it onto his trailer and told me he鈥檇 take it out next time he goes there. The list goes on and on but now I鈥檓 running short on space.聽
Thanks, neighbours, for knowingly or otherwise, heeding the message of God鈥檚 Word.聽
鈥淣ever walk away from someone who deserves help; your hand is God鈥檚 hand for that person. Don鈥檛 tell your neighbor 鈥淢aybe some other time鈥 or 鈥淭ry me tomorrow鈥 when the money鈥檚 right there in your pocket. Don鈥檛 figure ways of taking advantage of your neighbor when he鈥檚 sitting there trusting and unsuspecting.鈥 (Proverbs 3:27-29)聽
