麻豆传媒AVeast College celebrated the grand opening of its newest training facility and apprenticeship program this past Friday (Aug 28). The Powerline Technician Training Centre will house 麻豆传媒AVeast College鈥檚 newest apprenticeship training program, Powerline Technician. The facility located in the RM of Weyburn鈥檚 Evanston Park is equipped with a hands-on training lab and ample classroom space.

麻豆传媒AVeast College first heard of the availability to submit a Request for Proposal (RFP) in July 2019, when long time course provider SaskPower indicated its desire to shift its training focus. 麻豆传媒AVeast College has a rich history of providing not only industry and safety training programs, but in recent years delivered many successful cohorts of Saskatchewan Apprenticeship students in conjunction with Saskatchewan Apprenticeship Trade and Certification Commission (SATCC).

鈥淕iven our relationship with SATCC as well as our location in southeast Saskatchewan, it made smart business sense for us as a College, to prepare and submit an RFP for the Powerline Technician training,鈥 said Jody Holzmiller, Vice President, Education and Training for 麻豆传媒AVeast College. 鈥淲e assembled a team and got to work. I could not be more proud of the College for being awarded this training contract. It鈥檚 important to 麻豆传媒AVeast College and it鈥檚 important to southeast Saskatchewan.鈥

The academic year 2020-2021 will see eleven different cohorts of students across four levels of Powerline Technician Apprenticeship training with the first cohort starting online this coming October.

麻豆传媒AVeast College is very proud to be the first regional college in Saskatchewan to deliver a full level one through four apprenticeship training program.
