ESTEVAN – The new paddling pool at the Churchill Playpark in Estevan is now open.
The pool opened at 1 p.m. on Thursday for swimming, to the delight of local children and families. It was the first time since 2019 that swimming has been available in the park, located in south-central Estevan.
The health inspector has signed off on the pool and the water has passed the necessawry tests.
There is still some work remaining at the site, but it won't keep the pool from opening.
The paddling pool was closed at the start of the 2020 playparks season. Demolition on the old pool occurred earlier this year. Paradise Pools was awarded the tender for the new pool. The city received a $200,000 grant from the Community Revitalization Fund for the pool, and the rest of the cost was covered by the city's share of the federal gas tax.
