Mossbank to host fun-filled Old Wives Lake Festival

The Old Wives Lake Festival promises entertainment for the whole family on July 28-29. Activities takes place in Mossbank as well as at the watershed bird sanctuary at Old Wives Lake.

The Old Wives Lake Festival promises entertainment for the whole family on July 28-29. Activities takes place in Mossbank as well as at the watershed bird sanctuary at Old Wives Lake. At least 300 visitors are expected to participate in the festival’s numerous activities.
Events in Mossbank include a street dance on the night of Friday, July 28. The Mossbank and District Museum will be the main hub of action on Saturday, July 29. A trade show will be set up on Main Street near the museum and the town is still taking bookings for vendors. There will be demonstrations of woodworking and blacksmithing at the heritage blacksmith shop at the museum site. And the museum will be open for tours. The festival has planned historic bus tours narrated by Don Smith from the Mossbank Museum. Live music over the two days in Main Street will be provided by Diamond and the Rough and the Old Tyme Fiddlers.
There are also activities planned at Old Wives Lake on Saturday, July 29. Visitors can canoe across the lake or participate in the sandcastle competition. The trails are groomed for hiking and nature walks. Birdwatchers can stop at the sanctuary viewing station. The festival will provide children’s activities in Mossbank such as bouncy castles, hennas and face painting. Meanwhile, adults can join the golf tournament on Saturday, July 29. Entries are being accepted at the Town Office.
And no one will leave the Old Wives Lake Festival hungry. A pancake breakfast will take place in Mossbank on Saturday morning, July 29. A Regina food truck featuring burgers will join the festival, setting up in Mossbank. The Mossbank and District Museum hosts a lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a Saturday night supper will be held at the hall. There will be a beer gardens and a pie-eating contest is planned.
The Mossbank Town Office will be posting additional details for festival times and locations the week before the festival.
