Communities in Bloom are holding a photography contest at the close of summer.

Communities in Bloom want contestants to take photos of what they’re proud of then send them in for a selection of prizes.

Since Communities in Bloom is an extensive, far-reaching program, the photographic subjects can cover a range of topics. However, some relative suggestions included parks, boulevards, floral displays, heritage features, ecological areas and trails.

Also, Communities in Bloom reminded participants to remember all activities must be in compliance with current COVID-19 orders issued from public health.

Contestants are invited to take a photo (or multiple photos). Communities in Bloom are looking forward to seeing photos of beautiful spaces and interesting people from photographers across the province.

The prizes include a Community Garden Prize Pack, a Turf Care Prize Pack and a Tree Pruning Prize Pack.

A random draw will also be made for all Communities in Bloom participants for a 2021 Saskatchewan Communities in Bloom program registration.

The Community Garden Prize Pack will include a watering can, garden netting, garden hose, spray nozzle, garden trowel and hand rake, a sprinkler and a rain wave watering nozzle.

The Turf Care Prize Pack will have two sprinklers, a garden hose, lawn seed, fertilizer and a handheld fertilizer spreader.

The Tree Pruning Prize Pack contains a folding pruning saw, handheld loppers, hedge pruners and secateurs.

The contest ends on September 15, 2020. Photos featuring drugs or alcohol won’t be accepted. Entrants are obligated to provide copies of each photo they’ve entered to the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association.

Send submissions to Andrew Exelby, SPRA Parks and Open Spaces Consultant at [email protected].

Contestants are required to attach the pictures to their emails and include their names, phone numbers, the names of their communities and additional photo credit information.

There’s no limit to the number of photos or video entries, but only one prize will be awarded per winner.

Contestants must be 18 years or older, or have the permission of a parent or guardian to enter.

A panel of Saskatchewan Communities in Bloom will judge the winning photos – the results of the judging are final.

The first-place winner will have the first choice of prizes, followed in order by the second and third place winners.
