Christmas supper planned at Wheatland Senior Centre

WEYBURN - The Wheatland Seniors Centre will hold their month-end supper as the Christmas supper on Friday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m., featuring turkey and all the trimmings.

WEYBURN - The Wheatland Seniors Centre will hold their month-end supper as the Christmas supper on Friday, Dec. 16 at 5:30 p.m., featuring turkey and all the trimmings.

Those interested in attending are asked to phone the centre at 306-842-3503 or come by to write your name on the list. The deadline to let the centre know is Wednesday, Dec. 14 before noon.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge Club will be holding their Christmas supper and social on Monday, Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m., and a bridge game will follow at 7 p.m.

The cost for the turkey supper is $18 per person, or to just play bridge the cost is $3 per person.

The results of the senior centre’s activities from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2 are as follows. In bridge on Friday, Fran Franks won first, Shirley Sparks placed second and Erskine Sandiford came in third.

The winner of Spades was Connie Boucher in first, Coral Schindel in second, and Basil Holyer in third. In hi-lo whist, first place was won by Gladys Lokken and Janet Van Winkoop; second went to Marie Marcotte and Dorothy Lindskog; third was Dave Frayn and Marg Leavens; and fourth was Faye Johnson and Marg Schultz.

The winners of canasta were Marlene Decker in first; Bev Locken in second; Ileen Yates in third; Joan Gregory in fourth; and Chris Herlick in fifth.

In Kaiser, first place went to Melba Bent and Fran Franks; second was Jean Knibbs and Betty Knibbs; third was Ray Boucher and Marg Leavens.

The winners of cribbage on Thursday were Ray and Connie Boucher in first; Gerry Thompson and Emily Stadler in second; and Marg Schultz and Faye Johnson in third.

In fun cribbage, Ruth Boren won first, Marg Schultz won second and Pat Schutz won third.

Bingo is held at the Wheatland every Thursday at 1 p.m., and slider cards are available for 50 cents each.

The 2023 membership dues are $30 for the year.
