A memorial service for Queen Elizabeth 2 will be held at Carlyle's cenotaph.

CARLYLE - The Carlyle branch of the Royal Canadian Legion will host a wreath-laying service at the town’s cenotaph on Sept. 19, starting at 10:45 a.m.

This ceremony is being held on the day of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth 2, to honour her passing and to recognize the ascension of King Charles 3.

This will be a brief ceremony with two minutes of silence at 11 a.m.

Queen Elizabeth 2 was the queen of Canada for 70 years and was a patron of the Royal Canadian Legion. This is an opportunity to recognize her contributions to the war effort as a veteran, and her contributions to the Royal Canadian Legion and Canada as a whole.
