Volunteers of Assiniboia and district were in the spotlight for a volunteer appreciation event on April 27 at the Prince of Wales auditorium in Assiniboia. This is the fourth year that the Town of Assiniboia has teamed up with the Five Hills Health Region to host this volunteer recognition program. The event included a dinner featuring beef on a bun with beans and Japanese salad along with a cheese cake dessert prepared and served by Patti Batty and volunteers. Mayor Bob Himbeault emceed the evening’s program that followed.
Those attending the event represented the many volunteer groups in Assiniboia including: the Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association, Assiniboia and District Museum, Assiniboia and District Arts Council, Assiniboia Curling Club, Assiniboia and District Chamber of Commerce, Assiniboia and District Library, Assiniboia Wildlife Federation, Assiniboia Volunteer Fire Department, Assiniboia Communities in Bloom, Old Tyme Fiddlers, the Festival of Trees Committee, Assiniboia Community Choir, Assiniboia Music Festival committee, Club 55, Comfort Jubilee board, the Food Bank, Five Hills Health Region volunteers such as for the hospital auxiliary, pastoral care, Handi Drivers, Meals on Wheels, as well as Safe Communities, Shurniak Art Gallery, the Prince of Wales Management board and all of the volunteer groups from the churches in Assiniboia, the Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Cruisers Car Club, the Rotary Club, Kinsmen Club, Kinettes and K-40 Club, and all of the minor sports clubs like hockey, ball and figure skating.
