Assiniboia town council approves tax incentive agreement

The seventh annual Hayley and Cayden Mother’s Day Run will be held Sunday, May 14th from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

ASSINIBOIA - The Assiniboia Town Council gathered for a meeting on March 14.

In attendance were Mayor Sharon Schauenberg; Councillors: Robert Ellert, Kent Fettes, Patrick Grondin, Graham Harvey, Peter Kordus, and Renee Clermont; CAO Clint Mauthe; and Kerri Martin

Public acknowledgements were given to Fire Chief Terry Lacelle and the Assiniboia Times.  Agenda accepted and adopted as presented. Grondin/Fettes.

Minutes of last council meeting of Feb. 21 accepted and adopted as read. Ellert/Fettes.

Minutes of finance and admin from Nov. 25 and minutes of Recreation and Community Wellness accepted and adopted as read. Clermont/Harvey.

Fire Chief Terry Lacelle gave a report on behalf of the Fire Department. Three members will attend volunteer fire school in spring. Report was accepted as presented. Harvey/Ellert.

SAMA annual meeting: Motion made to make CAO Clint Mauthe and DOCS Kerri Martin voting delegates for this upcoming meeting. Ellert/Harvey.

Report given by CAO Clint Mauthe. Report accepted as presented. All departments operating well, snow removal being priority concern at present. Report adopted.

Request for Decisions

A: Bylaw 01/23 Tax Incentive agreement- refers to tax abatement for new infill residential construction. All four required readings of the bylaw. Carried unanimously.

B: Grazing Pasture Lands- lease agreement with resident approved. Harvey/Grondin.

C: Request for temporary avenue closing and sponsor donation. Council approved the temporary closing of Fourth Avenue West, from Centre Street to First Street West, for the seventh Annual Hayley and Cayden Mother’s Day run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 14th.

Furthermore, council approved a financial donation of $250 to help with the expenses of this community event which celebrates the importance of family and brings awareness of domestic violence. Harvey/Kordus.
