ESTEVAN - Members of the Estevan Police Service made a couple of arrests on March 19 following traffic stops.
A traffic stop during the nightshift resulted in a female being charged with impaired driving. She was issued a driver's licence suspension and her vehicle was impounded.
Another traffic stop resulted in a male being arrested for breaching requirements of his conditional sentence order. He was held in custody and will appear in Estevan Provincial Court to speak to the allegation.
The EPS received a complaint related to uttering threats. The matter is still under investigation.
A local sports club reported an unwanted individual attending their location and causing a disturbance. The club prepared a no-trespass letter which will be served on the individual once located.
Police received a criminal harassment complaint. The complainant has indicated that an individual continuously contacts them and the communication is unwanted. The matter is still under investigation.
Police received a report of an individual panhandling at a local business parking lot. EPS members attended and spoke with the Estevan male, who was warned under the panhandling bylaw and sent on his way.
EPS received a report of a break and enter to a residence. The matter is still under investigation.
The EPS received a report March 18 of a male uttering threats to a female through text messages. Members located and spoke with him, and the matter remains under investigation.
A truck driver reported that his cell phone had been stolen from his delivery truck while it was parked in central Estevan. Video from several surveillance cameras in the area is being obtained and the matter is under investigation.
A request came in for police to assist in removing an unwanted person from a residence. Members attended and kept the peace while the individual packed their belongings and left without incident.
The EPS received a complaint March 17 of an individual sending a video to another person in which threats were made against the complainant and other people. Several statements were obtained and the matter remains under investigation.
A 48-year old Estevan man was arrested after he was observed breaching conditions of a probation order. He was arrested and lodged in cells overnight, and will be making an appearance in Estevan Provincial Court in June to speak to the charge.
Police responded to a call for assistance after a female reported her partner being disruptive and violent in the home. Members attended and mediated the situation, and the partner agreed to stay at a friend’s residence for the rest of the night. Alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor in the occurrence.
