REGINA - Estevan-Big Muddy MLA Lori Carr has a new cabinet position, while Cannington MLA Daryl Harrison is joining cabinet for the first time.
Premier Scott Moe appointed a new, smaller, 16-member cabinet Thursday. None of the ministers have the same portfolio as what they had before the start of the provincial election campaign.
Carr, who has been the MLA for Estevan's riding since 2016, will become the minister responsible for Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health. She was previously the minister of Highways and Infrastructure.
Since becoming a cabinet minister for the first time in 2018, she has held a number of different duties, including two stints in highways. Her other roles have included Government Relations, Social Services, and SaskBuilds and Procurement, among others.
She will also be the Saskatchewan Party's deputy house leader.
Harrison, who is entering his second term as Cannington's MLA, will be the minister of Agriculture.
The Saskatchewan Party was re-elected to a fifth consecutive majority government during the Oct. 28 provincial election. They have 34 of the 61 seats in the Saskatchewan legislature; the opposition New Democratic Party has the other 27.
Moe said the government is planning to hold a fall sitting of the legislature, and a date for the throne speech will be announced soon.
