ESTEVAN - The 2024 edition of the Estevan KCRA rodeo kicked off Friday night at the Estevan Exhibition Association's rodeo arena.
The rodeo brought competitors to Estevan to compete in different events, including bareback riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Several disciplines had events for adults and youths. Young people also participated in steer riding.
Due to the number of entries received for several disciplines, there was a slack performance early on Friday, and then the top finishers advanced to Friday evening's performance.
The intermission also brought lots of entertainment, thanks to the Truco Trick Riders, comprised of several young female riders from southeast Saskatchewan, and the auction of Jaycee Ross' 4-H steer for the Estevan MRI fundraising campaign.
The KCRA will also hold performances on Saturday and Sunday in Estevan.
Estevan has become a highlight for the KCRA circuit. Last year Estevan was named the top event on the KCRA Tour.
The rodeo is part of the EEA's Energy City Ex. Friday was also the opening night of the midway.
The next edition of the Mercury and Â鶹´«Ã½AV will have more on this story.
