PHEASANT RUMP NAKOTA FIRST NATION - The Pheasant Rump Nakota First Nation, located near Kisbey, will host a Day of Honouring on March 21.
The Day of Honouring will mark an anniversary in Pheasant Rump's history. In March 1901, the First Nation's people were removed from their lands and forced to amalgamate with the White Bear First Nations.
"On this day we commemorate and remember the sacrifices of our ancestors by honouring our people," Pheasant Rump said in a news release.
It will start with a pipe ceremony at noon and a memorial walk at 1 p.m., symbolizing the journey of Pheasant Rump's people walking east to White Bear First Nations and then returning to its homelands to its future.
"The day has a full agenda of events to commemorate our nation, we continue to heal from the historical traumas and this day will provide another step to our healing. We take this time to extend invitation to join this historical day with us."
Other highlights will include a community feast at 2 p.m., honouring at 4 p.m., supper at 6 p.m., gahomni at 7 p.m., giveaways at 9 p.m. and an evening lunch at 10 p.m.
