ESTEVAN - Estevan Sharks water polo club members were busy in November, attending two out-of-town tournaments.
First, swimmers from all divisions – the under-nine mini, the U12 atom, U14 bantam and 14-plus open – travelled to a tournament in Regina on Nov. 23 and 24. Despite stormy weather and some absences due to illness, the Sharks played hard and had fun, the club said in an email to the Mercury.
Next, all divisions travelled to Saskatoon on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 for two days of competition at the Shaw Centre for winter provincials. The mini U9 Sharks went undefeated to come home with the gold. The atom U12/Bantam U14 girls teamed up with athletes from Regina and took silver, while the atom U12 boys came home with a bronze.
The bantam U14 boys teamed up with Regina and brought home the silver, and the open 14-plus male athletes joined a Regina team and came home with the silver.
No tournaments are slated for December, but the Sharks will return to competition in January.
