Estevan police monitoring area around ECS after driving complaints

Police also respond to collision, report of a stolen vehicle.

ESTEVAN - It's been a busy start to the week for members of the Estevan Police Service. 

The EPS says it is monitoring the area around the Estevan Comprehensive School following several reported driving complaints. A visible police presence is planned before and after school, and during lunch specifically to identify drivers operating vehicles in an unsafe manner.

Police received a report of a collision on Kensington Avenue on Oct. 15. One driver was charged for making an improper lane change. No injuries occurred and tow trucks were not required.

An unlawfully-parked vehicle complaint was received during the day shift, but the vehicle was relocated before police arrived.

Police received a report of an individual breaching their release conditions. EPS members attended and found the caller to have been intoxicated and not welcome at the residence. He was arrested and lodged in cells until sober. Based on the circumstances, the EPS says no charges are pending.

Police received a report of an intoxicated male walking southbound on Kensington Avenue near the north tracks. The individual was located by police and spoken to. It was determined that he was intoxicated but had done the responsible thing and was walking home. He was sent on his way.

The EPS received a report of youths knocking on the front door of homes and running away in the Hillcrest area.  Members patrolled the area but did not locate anyone meeting the description provided. Police remind the public to caution their children against this activity as it might be traumatizing to homeowners that live alone. Further, it is a criminal offence for which an individual could be charged.

Police received a report of a disturbance near a local east end convenience store. On arrival, members spoke to the individuals involved and nothing criminal was taking place.

A report of a suspicious female in the Hillside area was received during night shift. Members attended but were unable to locate the individual described.

Officers received a report of individuals who appeared to be arguing loudly near a local business. Members attended and located them, and they were warned and sent on their way.

Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle illegally parked near the Â鶹´«Ã½AVern Plains Co-op's bulk service station on the Estevan truck bypass. Members attended to assist the RCMP and the matter was rectified.

A report of a theft/fraud came into the EPS on Oct. 14. A business took payment for work and failed to complete it. The matter is under investigation.

The EPS received a report of a stolen cellphone and debit card. The subjects of the complaint were determined to be four young people who were warned of their actions. All property was recovered through the investigation.

Two 12-year old females were arrested following a report of mischief at a local school. One of the youths is facing a charge of mischief and the second was warned of her actions.

A complaint of a suspicious vehicle was received after it was observed to be parked for an extended period of time on the east end of the city. The vehicle was located by members and after contact with the driver, it was determined that nothing criminal had taken place.

A report was received of theft of a motor vehicle and misuse of credit cards. The vehicle and credit cards have been recovered and the matter is still under investigation.
