Estevan police called about impaired drivers, stolen bikes

EPS members handled numerous calls from April 25-27.

ESTEVAN - It's been a busy weekend for members of the Estevan Police Service.

Police are investigating a report that came in April 27 of two BMX bikes that were taken from a yard on Second Street.

A traffic stop resulted in a female driver testing positive for THC on the roadside screening device. She was issued a seven-day driver’s licence suspension and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

A report came in of a confrontation between two individuals in central Estevan. A statement was obtained and the offending party was warned of their actions.

Police received a report of an assault that took place in the downtown area. The matter is under investigation.

A complaint was filed of loud music at an apartment in the downtown area. Members attended and spoke with the resident. The music was turned off and the person was warned of the noise bylaw.

Police received a report of an individual not paying the full fare for their cab ride. Members mediated a resolution.

Police received a report of loud noise at an apartment in central Estevan on April 26. Members attended and spoke with the resident, who was warned of the noise bylaw.

Another report was of a loud vehicle in north Estevan. Members attended and spoke with a male who was working on a vehicle. He was warned of the bylaw.

A vehicle stop resulted in a male testing positive for THC on the roadside screening device. He was issued a 72-hour driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for three days.

A male was arrested for breaching conditions of his release order. He was lodged in cells to be taken before a judge.

Police were called to a local restaurant regarding an intoxicated male. Members spoke with the man and ensured he was not going to drive while impaired.

Earlier in the week, the EPS received a report on April 25 of a vehicle being taken without consent.  The matter remains under investigation.

Police were called about a vehicle being driven erratically in the downtown area. A vehicle description, including the licence plate, was provided by the complainant and the matter is under investigation.

A vehicle was reported as being unlawfully parked in a construction area. Members located the owner and had the vehicle moved so construction could continue.
