UPDATE: The air quality advisory for southern Saskatchewan has been lifted.

SOUTHERN SASKATCHEWAN - An air quality advisory was in effect Wednesday for much of southern Saskatchewan due to wildfire smoke from the northern part of the province.

The advisory covered Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Carlyle, Assiniboia, Swift Current, Moosomin and other areas of the province. A total of 137 RMs - and the communities within those RMs - were affected.

"Wildfire smoke from fires in northern Saskatchewan has moved southward through the province in the wake of a cold front moving through the area. Wildfire smoke can cause very poor air quality and reduced visibility," the advisory stated.
