We, the family of Ginger Jenish are saddened to announce her passing, yet are so very grateful for a lifetime of beautiful memories made with our wonderful mother. She passed away at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home, Estevan, Sask. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the age of 84 years.
Ginger’s memory will be forever cherished by her children, Tim (Christine), Dan (Bev), Wendy, Randy (Ruth) and Phil (Bridgette); grandchildren, Jennifer (Tom) Slisko, Rachel Jenish (Thomas Jensen), John Jenish, Cate (Guy) L’Heureux, Dr. Rebecca Jenish, Chelsea Jenish and Meghan Jenish; great grandchildren, Iciss and Emerson L’Heureux, Alexander, Dominiko and Justin Slisko. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister Kay Himmelspach and sister-in-law Joy Schell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ginger was predeceased by her loving husband Casper; parents, Joseph and Angela Schell; siblings, Annie (Chris) Meckler, Jacob (Louise) Schell, Clara (Jake) Wanner, Peter (Appolonia) Schell, Ed Schell and Br. Raymond Schell.
Ginger was born and raised in Lampman, Sask. She attended Hill Hall School in the Cullen, Sask. District and Estevan Collegiate Institute in Estevan. She worked as a Lab Technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Estevan and married Casper Jenish in 1951. Mom and Dad retired in 1992, and enjoyed wintering in Texas for 10 years. Mom gave much of her time to the Royal Purple, as well as to her church and the Catholic Women’s League at Holy Family Parish in Regina, Sask. She very much enjoyed knitting and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook.
The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to Dr. V. Pillay, the Regina General Hospital Stroke Nursing Unit, to Dr. A. Davies, the nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital and the nursing staff at the Estevan Regional Nursing Home.
Prayers were held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan, with Bill Mann officiating. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan, by Rev. Melchor Samonte. Interment followed at the Estevan City Cemetery, after which a luncheon was held in the church auditorium.
