ELLA MESSER
ÌýÌý It is with sadness and with the
joy of the faithful that we an-
nounce the death of Ella Mes-
ser on April 8, 2015 at the age
of 81 years, after a short battle
with cancer.
ÌýÌý Ella is survived by her chil-
dren, Adella (Murray Johnson)
of St. Albert, AB and their chil-
dren, Sarah (Mike), Victoria
(Curt) and Alexander; Janella
(Dean) Spearing of Red Deer,
AB and their children, Colby
and Bronson; Michael (Lisa) of
Mainprize Park, SK and their
sons, James and Brett; Shelley
(Allan) Whitman of Estevan, SK
and their children, Zachary and
Hannah and Robert (Sherry) of Abbotsford, B.C. Ella is also sur-
vived by her son Mike LeClair (reunited in adulthood) and many
siblings, numerous nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased
by her husband James in 1993.
ÌýÌý She was born into a family of 15 and raised on a farm north of
Estevan and achieved her LPN in Saskatoon, SK. She practiced
nursing for over 30 years in Moose Jaw, Ottawa, the Estevan
Regional Nursing Home, and both the old and new St. Joseph’s
Hospital. When she retired at age 63, Ella stayed more than
busy volunteering with the CWL and the retired nurses.
Throughout her life, music was a source of joy and blessing for
Ella. Along with her musician friends, she entertained many at
local senior’s homes and community events. She was loved by
many and will be missed by all.
ÌýÌý Prayers were held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Chapel of Hall Funeral Services, Estevan with Doug Third offi-
ciating. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 11,
2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Estevan
by Rev. Thuy Nguyen. Interment followed at Souris Valley Me-
morial Gardens, Estevan.
