Robinson, Barry Brent passed away on April 19, 2016 at the age of 68 years. He was predeceased by his father, Alvin Robinson; wife, Karen Robinson; brother, Lawrence Robinson; sister, Colette Anton and mother-in-law, Helen Collins. 聽
Barry was born to Alvin and Susan Robinson, on February 27th, 1948. The fourth of five children. Barry spent his youth and early adult years running wild and free with his much loved cousins, siblings and friends earning himself the nickname 鈥淪in鈥 which stuck with him throughout his lifetime. If there was a wild horse that needed breaking, he rode it, if there was a bike that went fast, he would jump on it and if there was trouble to be found, he found it.聽
After working odd jobs during his teenage years, he followed his father Alvin into the heavy equipment trade, working in coal, gold and diamond mining. He travelled extensively for work throughout Saskatchewan, Alberta, B.C., The Northern Territories, and Ontario, before expanding his career skills into road and highway building, civil construction and ended his career as the best known cowboy hat wearing cat skinner in the Saskatchewan oilfields. 聽
As the tale is told in 1977 Barry walked into a bar in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan where a beautiful, young waitress caught his eye. He walked up to her and said 鈥淵ou鈥檙e going to marry me and we鈥檙e going to have three kids.鈥 That waitress was soon to be his wife Karen but not before August of 1978 when Barry and Karen鈥檚 first daughter Shannon was born. On December 1st, 1979 Karen and Barry had a shotgun wedding as baby Stacy was set to arrive in March of 1980. Their family was complete and Barry鈥檚 prediction came true, in Feb of 1982 with arrival of their 3rd and final child, Cody. 聽
After years of travelling for work they bought a small farm in 1994 at Qu鈥橝ppelle, Saskatchewan. Karen made Barry promise that he would not scratch her china cabinet in the move. Barry carefully placed it in the truck and never tied it down causing it to blow out and explode all over the highway. Barry walked in the house holding nothing but a china cabinet door and said 鈥淲ell honey, I didn鈥檛 scratch it.鈥澛
Through the years life was good but hectic raising three rotten children, chasing their escaping horses all over the country side, and the constant flow of family and friends. In September 1996 their daughter Stacy surprised them with their 1st grandchild, a boy, Jesse Brent. In 2000 they welcomed their 2nd grandchild born to Shannon, a girl Mackenzie Lynn. 2002 brought 2 more grandsons, born to Stacy and Shannon, Jace Braydon Ronald and Alec Martin. Twin girls were born to Shannon in 2007, Loreal Marie and Alexa Eilleen. Ethan Joseph was born to Cody in 2010 and another son Archer Brent in 2012. 聽
With an empty nest Barry and Karen finally settled in Weyburn, Saskatchewan to relax from years of putting up with their kids. Barry went to work in the oilfields and Karen stayed at home to take care of him. In their later years Barry was finally able to build a beautiful koi pond with a waterfall, made of all the rocks he brought home over the years. There he also filled the gardens with flowers for Karen to enjoy in their own backyard. They enjoyed these years with friends and family having bonfires, cookouts and drinks. On any day you could go there and hear the same stories from Barry over and over and over again, like the Mickel story, for the millionth time.聽
In July of 2012 Barry lost his beloved wife of 31 years and he missed her terribly. He continued to bring her flowers and spoke to her every day. It changed his world. The children and family of Barry would like to thank everyone for their kind words and condolences, as well as add a public apology to David Suzuki for all of the things Barry said about you through the years.聽
