MCCONNELL, William James (Buff)
Buff was born on November 10, 1957 in Arcola, Saskatchewan. Buff lived all of his life in Carlyle. He worked at the Bulk Fuel Station in Carlyle and Manor for a number of years. Then he went to work for I.C.G. Gas. Around that time he opened Shirnell Video - a movie rental place in the Memorial Hall with his friend Don Shirley of Carlyle. Buff was getting sick from the propane at I.C.G. so he left there and went to work at the Youth Camp at Kenosee Lake. When they closed the camp at Kenosee, Buff went to work in Regina at the Correction Centre until he became ill.
Buff loved to collect antiques. He loved to go to auction sales to see what treasures he could add to his collection. Buff also loved to travel. He went on many vacations, but his favorite trip was to Scotland where he met some of our relatives.
Buff loved to visit with everyone. He was a kind and loving person. He enjoyed large family functions and couldn't wait for the holidays when the family would all get together.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped by to see Buff while he was in Regina and at the lodge in Carlyle. He enjoyed the visits and it made his days more enjoyable.
We, Bill's family, would like to thank all of our friends and family for their sympathy and support at this very difficult time. The food, flowers and all the hugs were incredibly comforting. We especially thank Regina Hospitals, Arcola Hospital, Dr. Meyers, all the staff at the Carlyle Moose Mountain Lodge, Sandy Dalziel for the wonderful service, Cousin Anita for the eulogy, the Honorary Pallbearers, the wonderful people for the lunch after the service, and The Orsted Funeral Home for everything.
Thank you to Darcy, Kim, Yvonne and Diane for keeping us organized through those first few days.
Also, thank you to all who made donations to Moose Mountain Lodge in Buff's name.
Buff will be greatly missed by his Dad Lloyd & Mom Marg, his siblings Jo-Ann (Greg), Janet (Chuck), Rick (Wendy), Lionel (Lori-Ann), Tracy (Kelly), numerous nieces and nephews, great niece and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
