Photos: Pierre Poilievre lands in Saskatoon for a Thursday rally

The leader of the Conservative Party of Canada held a gathering billed as a Rally for Change in a warehouse in the Bizhub Industrial Park.

SASKATOON - Thursday, as national party leaders criss-crossed the country to shore up support in the final stretch of the federal election campaign, one ended up in Saskatchewan.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre began Thursday in Halifax before heading to Saskatoon. He held his Rally for Change in a warehouse in the Bizhub Industrial Park, beginning at 6 p.m. and running about two hours. During the rally, Poilievre called out Liberal Party leader Mark Carney on his explanation of the context of a call with Donald Trump in which the U.S. president again brought up the annexation of Canada.

He also vowed to enhance and give the people of Western Canada more coverage, after years of being alienated and neglected by the Liberal government under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Friday morning, the Canadian Press reported that, if the polls are correct, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre will be campaigning in two ridings considered safe seats for the Conservatives. He was expected to visit Nanoose Bay, B.C., after starting his day with a press conference in Saskatoon.

Meanwhile, Mark Carney will be taking his Liberal campaign bus across Ontario Friday. He has a news conference scheduled for Sault Ste. Marie, where he will also stop by a small business, and a number of events in the southern part of the province. Once again, if the polls are correct, they suggest that most ridings in Ontario are leaning Liberal.
